Address the circulation of fake news; fake rice
This petition had 212 supporters
Social media today has become a major influence to the people especially the youth, resulting into a fast spreading exchange of communication and information. People easily connect and believe on what they see and watch regardless of where the source came from. One example would be the news regarding the fake rice that was rumored to have entered the Philippine market, in which the issue spread like a wildfire.
The Philippines is known for no. 1 in terms of time spent on social media. Social media is the center of misleading information for anyone can create a blog, post a YouTube video or send out a tweet and established media outlets no longer have a lock on creating or distributing the news.
Since fake news has circulated rapidly here in our country, this must be addressed in order to lessen the disruption or panic from our citizens. Spreading fake news can result into consequences and can harm other people.
Help us address the circulation of fake news by signing our petition. Together, lets be educated and inform the people what is right.
