Teenage pregnancy has been a rampant issue in the Philippines as for the time being. The United Nations Population Fund says that Philippines is the only country in the Asia-Pacific region where teenage pregnancy cases rose over for the last two decades. The UNFPA country representative Klaus Beck said that Filipino girls aged 15 to 19 make up the 10 percent of the population of 100 million, and one out of 10 of them have already given birth.

With this being said, it is very alarming that teenage pregnancy cases in a country like the Philippines who is known for being a role model in displaying the philosophy of conservatism continuously rise, overtaking any other Asian country.

In the Philippine setting of a normal conversation SEX is both a taboo and a permissive issue to talk about. This is why teenagers tend to reserve their thoughts within themselves and later on grow it as a curiosity.

Lack of education and maleducation are two of the many reasons why teenage pregnancy cases in the country are still prevalent. Students are not well taught of the idea of SEX. The main reason why there are misconceptions about it and students grow their curiosity is that Sex Education is taught in a sketchy way because there is no separate subject that mainly tackles it.

Sex Education should be taught in the Senior High School Grade Level as a core subject to educate the students on what should they be knowing about it. Let us make the Philippines be able to be removed from the World ranking of growing rate of teenage pregnancy through educating them.

Make Sex Education a Core Subject in the Senior High School Grade Level.
