Property owners must pay their real estate taxes on time, but in Philadelphia paying early used to save us money.  If you paid your real estate tax bill before the last day in February, you received a one percent discount.  As of July 1, 2020, the City decided to no longer provide this discount to hard-working Philadelphia homeowners.  The discount discontinuance was extended due to COVID so this upcoming tax season will be the first time Philadelphians must face the loss of this discount.  Coupled with the new residential property assessments just received, our pockets are being hit hard amid an already overly inflated economy.  Sign this petition to let your voice be heard by City Council to demand the one percent discount be reinstated effective immediately.
