Cortney Laing started this petition to Governor Phil Murphy and

Dollar General is trying to build a new store at 512 Route 47 S. Green Creek NJ. Green Creek is a quiet more rural area of Cape May County and we would like to keep it that way. This town does not want or need the commotion, crime, litter and traffic hazards this store will bring. With a town full of locally owned and operated businesses a commercial business only threatens the welfare of our community. Living on a highway we see a lot of car accidents already. This store will cause even more accidents with its location being so close to the intersection of Bayshore road and Route 47, and being on the bad side of a blind curve with high speed traffic. There are 4 Dollar Generals located within 10 miles of this location. With so many stores located so close to each other it seems a bit unnecessary, redundant and greedy of Dollar General to target our small town. Unfortunately Dollar General attracts a lot of crime, if you are local you probably heard about the stabbing at the Dollar General on Indian Trail road just 5 miles from here. Please help Green Creek stay safe, quiet, and clean by supporting our cause and signing our petition. We want to ask our signers to close their eyes and imagine a Dollar General across the street or next door to their house and imagine how much you would dislike it.

Thank you for taking the time to read and support our fight against Dollar General, it means a lot to Green Creek.
