Halloween is the ancient festival of Samhain or All Hallows eve. It's Gaelic for summer's end. It was a day to honor the dead, as it was believed that the spirits retuned to the earth on this night. Now Halloween is considered a children's holiday and has become extremely capitalized. Halloween is not just a kid's holiday, where you wear costumes, and beg for candy. It's is an extemely important holiday for the Wiccan and Pagan community. It is extremely insulting to these communities that this once sacred holiday is now just focused on wearing costumes, and partying. Halloween should be a day where the dead is honored, and should be treated and respected as a religious holiday. It should be celebrated as a day of remembrance, and not as a day for partying. Please sign to recognize Halloween as a religious holiday, and should be treated as a sacred day.
