Stop the Amplified Noise Amendment Act
Why this petition matters

Well y’all; DC COUNCIL is at it again! The DC amplified noise amendment act is being discussed and the rule is.... music can’t be played on a system that exceeds 90 decibels. Just so you guys get an idea of how loud that actually is; let me give you some information. According to research conducted by the Michigan school of medicine, 90 decibels also equates to sounds coming from the subway, a lawn mower or heavy traffic, all of which you’d hear on any given day here in the city. It’s such a shame that out of all the sounds that gentrifiers and non-POC council members can tolerate, sounds that embody the culture and rich heritage of an urban black city are considered to be intolerable. As a native Washingtonian, Go-Go lover, and black resident of Washington DC; here’s two pieces of advice, if you don’t like DC Culture don’t move here and don’t run for city council!
