Help get more equal pay for Pharmacy Technicians

Help get more equal pay for Pharmacy Technicians
Every year we see wages for others jobs increase while the pay for Pharmacy Technicians stays stagnant. You see job posting’s for grocery store clerks, office receptionist, fast food workers starting pays in $20/hr category. A pharmacy technician pay average is $14/hr with experience can increase slightly but takes years to get $20/hr. We are required by law to maintain State license, and a national certification. These have a mandatory 20 hours continuing education credits to remain active. Pharmacy Techs provide a vital role in patient care. There are many specialities for technicians, compounding, chemo, retail, MAT therapy, MTM which require extra education as well. We do every aspect of pharmacy care right along side the supervising pharmacist. We are expected to work independently, have good decision making skills, multitask. As well be able to work multiple pharmacy computer systems, and be knowledgeable in medications, patient symptoms & treatments that pair with their medication, insurance billing , prior authorizations, hipa, pharmacy law, etc. I think it’s only fair we get paid what we are deserved. Pharmacy Technicians perform a important role in patient care & safety thus the salary needs to reflect.
