We believe in the quality of life of rural residents and the preservation of the land we live on. We also believe if this development is realized, our right to fresh air and water will be infringed upon. We are opposed to the addition of yet another landfill in our neighborhood. The proposed landfill is 95 acres which would total over 250 acres just in a 6 mile radius in Pettis County. Some of our concerns are out of control trash around the landfill, smell, noxious gases, leachate, heavy truck traffic and de-valuing properties in our rural area. By installing a landfill in this location it is taking farmland out of our future farmer's hands for generations to come. Many generations of families have grown and thrived here, but what will be left for their future generations if this is allowed to proceed? Why should Pettis County take trash from all over Missouri?
