Michael Failla started this petition to Petitionee: United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, Homeland Security Division (Homeland Security Division) and

"If the world were not watching, I would take your eyes out with a fork."

Two Afghan brothers are in extreme danger since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. The eldest brother is LGBTQ and received death threats of being burned alive for being gay and Christian, so he and his brother have had to flee their home. Both brothers are also Hazara, a historically-persecuted ethnic minority of the region. Their own father was killed in a documented massacre of Hazara men by Taliban when the brothers were children, and in August 2021 it was reported that Hazara were being tortured and killed by Taliban. The brothers had converted to Christianity but since the fall of Kabul they were in extreme danger of death from the Taliban due to being ex-Muslim, their Hazara racial heritage and the older brother's LGBTQ identity. When venturing out to buy food, the younger brother was beaten severely on his face by a Talib, who threatened to take his eyes out with a fork because of his Hazara racial appearance.

Because of the brothers' extreme vulnerability by reason of religion, racial identity and LGBTQ identification, their friend Michael Failla of the Seattle area has lodged an application for US humanitarian parole which would allow the brothers to come in safety to the US, where their rights will be respected.

After a daring escape featured on CNN, the brothers are now hiding in Pakistan, but Pakistan does not want to take any more Afghan refugees and their visas are only valid for a few more weeks, leaving them in danger of forced return to Afghanistan like many other Afghans have sadly experienced. Furthermore, in Pakistan and the surrounding countries they are still in danger as ex-Muslims, Hazara minority and LGBTQ.

THEREFORE WE THE UNDERSIGNED, of the Seattle and other US congressional districts, and all other supporters of human rights worldwide, PETITION the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, Homeland Security Division (as well as our elected representatives listed after our names below) URGENTLY TO EXPEDITE HUMANITARIAN PAROLE CASE NUMBERS  MSC2199993174 + MSC2199993175  to grant the brothers safe passage and entry to the United States.

Once the brothers arrive safely in Seattle we hereby pledge our support and help in helping them settle in and become valuable members of our community.

These two brothers are childhood genocide survivors of the Taliban, and are targets because of their race, faith and private life. Now they deserve safety. Let’s show them that we care.
