Petition to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to maintain the tuition freeze

On April 29th, 2021, the long-awaited Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary education review report finally received public release by the Minister of Education Tom Osbourne.
The government-sanctioned, so-called independent report recommends replacing the tuition freeze and increasing tuition at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) and the College of the North Atlantic (CONA).
Minister Osbourne stated that keeping the tuition freeze for the next year would cost the province $70 million. He said, "The amount to freeze tuition keeps growing. Does it need to be looked at? I think it does."
The provincial budget comes down in June, and discussions will be happening within the government until that time.
This petition asks the provincial government to maintain the longstanding tuition fee freeze to support students and citizens.
