Petition to Stop Fitzhugh Concert Venue: Road Safety Audit & Traffic Impact Analysis

The Issue

We, as concerned neighbors, families and friends of Central Texas, steadfastly oppose construction of the proposed Fitzhugh Concert Venue, and we urge the Hays County Commissioners Court to obtain a Road Safety Audit (RSA) of Fitzhugh Road and to require a new Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) be submitted by Blizexas, LLC in connection with the development of Fitzhugh Concert Venue.

We believe the current TIA report either fails to address, or inadequately addresses:

1. The vast majority of the project’s estimated traffic.
2. The inadequacy of the traffic mitigation improvements.
3. The minimum sight distances required by Hays County’s regulations.
4. The significant public safety concerns associated with a venue of this size on Fitzhugh Road.

Considering the above deficiencies, we request a public hearing be conducted before any new or supplemental TIA is approved for this project. The venue would bring noise, light and water pollution and immense traffic to Barton Creek and Fitzhugh Road, significantly damaging the natural beauty of our region. Additional traffic in the area has the potential to lead to problematic delays for emergency service vehicles and increases potential safety hazards on the dark and winding Fitzhugh Road.

The Commissioners Court is empowered to act.  Please help us with this significant community issue now!

These roads are too dangerous for thousands of people to navigate at night. I drive these roads daily and am still caught off guard by some of the sharp turns. There will be casualties as a result of this venue being built at this location

We're looking to purchase a house very close to the proposed venue, as we've absolutely love the area for years, but we feel really unsure about making that major decision with something like this looming. We are looking to get outside of the noise and hustle and bustle of Austin. This makes it a lot less likely we might opt for something in the ar...
