Petition to stop Air pollution at 100 Felix Dlamini Road (Brickfield Road) - IM Packaging
Why this petition matters
We, the community, wish to put our grievances forward for the Business (IM Packaging) operating at 100 Brickfield Road, Durban.
The factory burns coal, which has polluted our environment, emits foul odors, and covers our properties in black soot.
This has been happening for a while, and we have complained to the unresponsive owner about our complaints.
We urge you to sign this petition, which will be sent to The Municipality for consideration.
The site is currently zoned as General Business 2, which permits light industrial. However, according to the municipality zoning scheme, this is defined as:
Industry - Light: means an industry that can be carried out without causing nuisance to other properties or to the public. This may include; storage, warehouse, factory and the like.
The factory is currently operating at Industry-Noxious, defined as:
Industry-Noxious: means any industry or trade that because of fumes, gases, vapours, dust, smell, noise, vibration, or other causes, is deemed by the Municipality to be likely to become dangerous or harmful to the
health, welfare, and amenity of the public.
