At their March 8th meeting, City Council made decision to end the current model of government-funded curbside recycling in Chesapeake. Effective June 30, 2022, the city will then be transitioning into a private sector-based system. Going forward, each household will be responsible for retaining and paying for their curbside recycling pickup via a variety of competing vendors. This petition is a plea for city council to continue funding recycling pickup and to reform our current recycling system.
