Why this petition matters

Subject:People are not following the covid protocols

Covid 19 began in December 2019 December and is still continuing until 2022, which is now a worldwide issue and a global pandemic, Covid 19 has killed very many people from adults to children, and babies. It has affected so many people's lives because we had to quarantine and follow covid 19 protocols like, for example, social distancing, wearing a mask, and sanitizing or washing hands on a daily basis.

We as AKA’M students don't want us to go through this again, which is why we have to follow covid protocols, because as vaccines are increasing in number and cases are reducing we do not want the new variant to catch us when we are not aware which brings us  to the main issue we want to tell you about.

Very many Kenyans have stopped putting on masks because they assume that covid 19 does not exist, or it is no longer there, but as we move on more variants also move with us meaning we could catch Covid any time and this time it may be more dangerous than before. We think as we move on we should continue to put on masks because even though people’s interactions can not be stopped, we can prevent the spread of covid 19.

We can not force people to social distance, wash hands, wear masks and continue our lives like we are in 2019 but we should remain safe by doing the following:

Washing hands/ Sanitizing, on an average we carry 3,200 germs on our hands which belong to over 150 species, plus the amount of people that one person could touch each other, hug, high five, hold hands with,or even kiss, just that would transport over 80 million germs and over 30 million species of germs to another person. When we wash our hands without soap it is like nothing changes, but when you wash your hands with soap a lot happens to the germs that stay on your hands, the same thing applies to when you sanitize your hands, when you sanitize they is no guarantee that the germs are gone because the alcohol would kill the germs but it would not necessarily make sure all of them are gone, but washing your hands for over 30 seconds with soap would kill all those germs, and once all those germs are killed it would be easier for people to touch each other, hug, high five, hold hands and do anything they want because once they wash their hands properly following the way World health organization showed us on their website, we would have less covid rates making sure everyone someone would come in contact with is safe.

Social distancing and wearing masks, Social distancing is important because it also helps others to not invade other people’s personal space making sure that everyone has space to sneeze cough and do everything they want to do in their barrier making the spread lees, because once you are 6 feet away from someone and they cough and they are also wearing a mask it wont reach you, making you less vulnerable to the  virus

In conclusion we are asking the health ministry to make sure that Kenyans still remember that Covid-19 is still there and they is no guarantee that it will go or it will come back, but it is better to be safe than sorry, because no one would want to go through all the tramating things we did before when we did not know how to deal with the coronavirus.
