Why this petition matters

Started by Charlotte Morris

Making abortion illegal would be a violation of the very first section of the fourteenth amendment and article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The constitution states that "nor shall any state deprive any person of life,  liberty, or property," but if abortion is made illegal, then it would abridge a          woman's liberty to do what she wants with her own body.

The Universal declaration states a similar saying of "Right to life, liberty, and personal security," which has nearly the same meaning as amendment 14 and applies in the same way.

Women cannot get an abortion past 24 weeks, so the baby is not conscious when it is aborted.
Fetuses do not gain consciousness until anywhere between 24 and 28 weeks of being in the womb.
The earliest an infant has been observed to be conscious and have memories is at 5 months.
Most abortions are within the first 8 weeks. So it would most likely be a zygote at the time of abortion.

A woman has many reasons she may want to get an aborion:
    She may have been raped.
The zygote may have attached in the fallopian tube and it will kill the mother unless it is aborted.
She may be in no position to take care of the baby
        Not financially stable
        Emotionally unready
        Underage

Places where abortion is illegal actually have higher rates of aboriton.

Not your body, not your choice.
