Petition to Investigate Human Rights Violations Committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran,
Why this petition matters
Dear Mr. Secretary Guterres,
We appreciate your views and actions regarding Human Rights in Iran. We are also grateful for your position regarding the recent protests in Iran, their significance, intensity, nationwide scope, and international outrage. In the past two weeks, 180 innocent people have been killed, women have been raped and several thousand have been brutally beaten, tortured, and imprisoned. Under this petition we kindly request that you call for an investigation into the violations of international humanitarian laws committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran under the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and 1977, Article 8: a 2, Torture or inhuman treatment, a 3, Wilfully causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or health; b 21, Committing outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment; b 22, Committing rape, sexual slavery, c 2, Committing outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment; e 1, Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities. Simultaneously we request a resolution by the General Assembly to demand the immediate release of all political prisoners in Iran. In the case of refusal, we request that the United Nation rescind the recognition of the Islamic Republic from its member list. This final request is made under the UN Global Compact’s Integrity measures, in particular, the Women’s Empowerment Principles. The Iranian people are loud and clear in their united message of pain and suffering under the dictatorial and barbaric regime of the Islamic government over the past 43 years.
Respectfully,
The petitioners
