Petition to Equip Ottawa Police with Body Cameras

For full accountability and transparency, we respectfully ask that the incredible men and women who serve and protect our city via the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) are equipped with the proper audio and video surveillance gear during live calls and or interactions/stops with civilians. In today’s day and age, it is imperative that all criminal matters be investigated properly, and having a live camera on the scene of these interactions will serve to not only protect the officers, but the civilians of the city on-site, and in a court of law.

Many cities across Canada have gone through trial runs of adapting the body cameras into their day to day operations, Ottawa included (pilot project 2016) but to date, OPS still does not wear body cameras and we ask that this be reconsidered.
