The Treasure Box Thrift Store in Lockport has been an asset not only to our community, but also to the support staff/recipients there. Our community needs and depends on the thrift store for our livelihood with today's influx of cost of general necessities. There is no other thrift store nearby to our area.

Since Hurricane Ida, The Treasure Box has not been reopened and has no plans of doing so. In my opinion, most of the building looks salvageable. For many families including ours, this has been a hardship for not only drop off contributions, but also to be able to purchase clothing, bedding, dishes, etc. at an affordable price. For many of us in the community with low-income families, shopping affordable is a necessity.  

Another great asset of The Treasure Box is that the work recipients have the opportunity to interact with our community. I know that socialization plays a vital role in their social development, as well as with our children. My children firsthand got to experience the companionship, as well as worth ethnics thru the special needs workshop. 

I am advocating on behalf of our community and support staff/recipients that are employed at The Treasure Box, that the thrift store is restored and reopened in Lockport.  Please help me to encourage Lafourche Arc administration to consider our plea, by signing your name. Also, feel free to leave a comment on what The Treasure Box has done for you.
