To Continue Foreign Exchange At Choice Schools in CCSD, SC
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,500!
As of August 9, 2017 Charleston County School District has said that starting for the 2018-2019 school year foreign exchange students will no longer be allowed at "Choice" schools (more specifically, schools with a magnet program). Even though they agree with the value of Foreign Exchange, the district states that "foreign exchange students are classified as non residents ... non residents are required to own property in Charleston County in order to be eligible to apply to a magnet school". The whole point of foreign exchange is that they are not from the same place as the rest of the school and that they can bring a different perspective to classes (thus improving learning). These students are not taking the place of CCSD eligible students but are in addition too them. If you would like to have you or your childs education be broadened and become part of the wonderful new experience that comes with bringing in foreign exchange students, please sign the petition to try and persuade CCSD to continue their foreign exchange program in Magnet Schools.
