Fight For No Tights!

Many students at Shanahan believe that wearing tights year round is an unnecessary change to the uniform policy. Over the past three years, the upperclassmen have spent a lot of money on purchasing the pricey knee socks and now we are just expected to throw them away and purchase more pairs of school tights to last the entire year. Tights do not last as long as knee socks. They shrink very easily and get tears that need to be replaced otherwise you will get demerits. We do realize that the socks fall down as we are walking through the hallways but we should not be expected to drop our books and pull our socks up in the middle of the busy hallway. We wait until we get to the classroom to fix our socks. This uniform change makes the female students uncomfortable because the main purpose of this change is to cover our shins because it is "distracting" to male students and teachers. Although this uniform change seems necessary to the administration, we, the shanahan students, believe that this is an unfair, uncomfortable, and unjust change to the uniform code.
