Trees capture carbon dioxide and when you cut them down the carbon is released back into the atmosphere creating global warming. As trees grow, they help stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. If our district keeps using non-forest certified paper it will keep contributing to this climate crisis. We use so much non FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) paper in our schools like toilet paper, paper towels, copy paper, and more everyday and if we can change this paper it will help this community one piece of paper at a time. As a result, the Long Beach Unified School District would become a leader for sustainability because more and more companies are becoming forest certified. In addition to that we will be safer and the next generations will benefit because we’ll have clean air and a safe environment. Switching our district to FSC certified paper will make sure that the forests will be protected, so if you sign this petition you will help our project move forward.
