To preface, I believe that haloman30 removing the memes voice chat is unjustified. It was the one channel where we could freely say what we wanted, without punishment from him.

While the n-word can be a derogatory racially-charged slur, it can also be commonly used on a friendlier basis. A white man could call a black man the n-word, but that same man may call his friends that and think nothing off it.

The n-word is only offensive when it’s aimed to be offensive, which isn't always the case. So why should we ban a word that so many people use for identifying who they're friends with?

Members of the black population call each other the n-word and may even refer to members of other racial groups by using it. Now in no way am I defending or condoning using the n-word to be used as an insult, but if used for the other reason, I see nothing wrong with that.

For this very reason, I believe the memes voice channel should be added back. A decent portion of us commonly use the word, so why should you remove something that allow us to freely express ourselves?
