Petition for ethical and fair conduct in ERSM module
Petition for ethical and fair conduct in ERSM module
Why this petition matters
As the ERSM6814 students for 2022, we are requesting that the examination on the 6th of June at 8am be shifted to another date. This is because of the unfair procedure that is being carried in the module. This is in line with the failure of the lecturer to release our predicate before the exam. The marks were due on Friday the 3rd for predicate but the lecturer has failed to release our assignment marks at 12 o'clock on Sunday. This leaves us with no time to query our marks before the Monday morning exam. For the students that will identify queries on their total predicate, thereby failing to reach the required 40% there will be no time to query marks in time for the exam. There is a general fear that the lecturer is also marking under serious time constraints, meaning that they might make errors with the marking and the overall marks.
The university implemented predicate day for a reason and it is very concerning when lecturers can decide to withhold assignment marks until a day before the exam leaving students uncertain as to whether they qualify or not .
The petition will follow the appropriate channels from the HOD to the Faculty Manager and the Dean of EMS. the final point of call will be Vice-Rector Academics until the matter is resolved. The petition has been signed by the students in the module instead of a few individuals in order to prevent any victimisation.
