PETITION FOR DENIAL OF RIVERWALK REZONING PROPOSAL

Updates on the hearing below. 

On May 12, 2022, the Forsyth County Planning Board will hear the rezoning proposal for Riverwalk, a proposed Planned Residential Development (PRD), for property on the west side of Idols Road south of Mallard Trail (a.k.a.Tanglewood Park Road), adjacent to the Tanglewood Golf Course and Yadkin River.

The proposed development will provide approximately 540 single family homes and townhomes, resulting in thousands of additional vehicle trips daily to and from Idols Road and surrounding roadways, as well as causing numerous other problems to nearby properties and citizens living in the vicinity.

We, the undersigned, are concerned residents who will be materially and adversely impacted by the requested rezoning and therefore seek the denial of this rezoning proposal and ask that the RM5 not be approved and ask developer to lower density so it is more consistent with other neighborhoods on this end of Idols Rd. We ask for larger lot sizes and single family homes only.

***UPDATE***
The zoning and planning board didn’t really have any heavy discussion as they did with other proposals during the May 12th meetings. This leads the attendees of the meeting, in opposition to the Riverwalk proposal, to wonder if they already had their minds made up in favor of the development. Vote was 6-3 in favor. Now the proposal goes to the county commissioners office and another meeting and public voiced concerns can be heard. We need support in opposition to this. Please sign.

The meeting with the commissioners on June 23rd was postponed to August 4th.
