Hello Free World,

My name is Tyrone Edwards, inmate #155541. Out of respect, I would like to first acknowledge the victims of my crimes, by offering my sincere apologies for my wrongs against them, and for any lasting damage I may have caused. 

 On September 10th, 2010 I was arrested, and eventually convicted, of aggravated robbery of two banks and two beauty salons. When I look back on all the messed up things I’ve done, I’m regretful for having been part of what is wrong with my community, and embodying much of what I stand against now. So any true display of remorse can only be expressed in how I continue to proceed in life. 

Being in prison for 12 years can offer a person a unique perspective of life, kind of like seeing everything from a really high perch. And what I realize is how many people— not just victims — my past iniquities have negatively affected over the years. Everyone who loves me, even people that have ‘come’ to love me. And that by choosing to do what I did, I sacrificed everything good I could have been and done for them, and my community. It is this understanding that has driven me to becoming a positive force in the world. Like to live by the saying, “If not for love or life, then not at all.” I would like to fix everything I have broken. So I am asking the community’s support for an early release because, free, I can achieve so much more good than these walls afford me the ability to.
