I have lived in Southwell for 10 years now and am amazed that as a Cathedral town of a good size we only have a Coop supermarket to serve the whole town (not counting One stop, McCartolls and M&S BP).

I have heard of Aldi, Lidl and Sainsburys apply to set up a supermarket nearby only to not get through planning.

Southwell Co-op is known as one of the most expensive Co-op in the country. It regularly runs out of essential items like salad and bread and many items are extremely overpriced when compared to other supermarkets. 

Southwell needs another supermarket. Will you join me in petitioning for a new supermarket to be opened in or very near Southwell so residents no longer have to pay overinflated prices or drive 12-15 miles to Newark, Netherfield or Mansfield to find an alternative supermarket?

I am hoping to take the petition to our local MP and town council if others feel the same and would like to see this change.
