Petition for a separate deer season with dogs to help control the doe population.

The use of dogs to take whitetail has been illegal in Missouri and we want to change that. We are NOT trying to get this passed where we can run during firearms season. But instead get a week set aside for the new proposed season toward the end of the year before alternative methods season where hounds could be run south of highway 44. Hunters using dogs could use shotgun and slugs, muzzle loaders, or archery to harvest game during this season. Thus limiting the chance of any accident with high power rifles. This proposed season could also be an antlerless season and greatly help our deer herd and keep the population in check. This could bring new revenue to the state that we are missing out on. It's is legal in most southern states but not in northern and Midwest areas. Our deer numbers are increasing. And with that so will disease and inbreeding. Why not bring in revenue and allow people to hunt a way they enjoy while still allowing bowhunters and firearm hunters their portion as usual. Hunters create money in rural areas. More seasons more money. This is a time honored heritage and tradition. Please consider helping make this happen. Not everyone archery hunts. Not everyone rifle hunts. Not everyone uses a muzzle loader. But they have their season so those that do can. We would like our own week long season to hunt the way we enjoy and have learned to love. Please support.
