Petition: Community consultation not forced Fremantle / Melville amalgamation.

To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of Western Australia in Parliament assembled.

We the undersigned, express our opposition to the proposed forced amalgamation of Fremantle with Melville, East Fremantle and parts of Canning. We also express our opposition to the loss of North Fremantle as part of Fremantle. Whilst broadly supportive of local government reform and the logical expansion of Fremantle’s boundaries, we believe the proposed merger will undermine Fremantle as a strategic activity centre.
Now we ask the Legislative Assembly to support new City of Fremantle boundaries that strengthen Fremantle as a unique and distinctive community of interest based the Fremantle CBD  as a strategic activity centre as defined under Directions 2031.
