This is a difficult time for many students and faculty at fgcu as we are attempting to rebuild our communities and cope with great loss. We have lost 10 days of school due to hurricane Ian, and FGCU has proposed the possibility of students and staff having class on Saturdays. This is an inappropriate and insensitive requirement to push on us, as many do not even have a place to live. Many of us live paycheck to paycheck due to how expensive the cost of living already was and cannot afford to take more time off from work. We also have families to look after, and this decision would make it extremely difficult for people with dependents to balance work/home life balance. We want FGCU to understand the position they are putting us in, and ask they reconsider.
