Support an increase in the number of pickleball courts in Peters Township.
This petition had 525 supporters
In the past Peters Township has approached pickleball as a Seniors only activity. However, the popularity of this sport is exploding locally for all age groups. Because pickleball can be played by those young and old, the entire community would greatly benefit from the addition of both indoor and outdoor courts for both leisure and competitive play.
Currently, Peters Township offers its community 1 pay to play outdoor pickleball court, while surrounding communities are providing players with opportunities to play, with all outdoor courts being free to play.
USC: 3 indoor and 4 outdoor courts
Bethel Park: 3 indoor and 2 outdoor courts
Canonsburg: 4 outdoor and building 4 more
South Fayette: 5 outdoor
According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2016 participate report, there are currently 2.5 million players.
According the the USAPA, as of August 1st, 2017 the Atlantic region which includes Pennsylvania, offers its players 1,833 indoor courts and 1,459 outdoor courts. Peters Township offers the community 1 pay to play outdoor pickleball court.
Please sign this petition in support of providing our residents the needed facilities to enrich the recreational opportunities pickleball can offer.
