Our Town is losing unprecedented amounts of money due to poor management ($2.3 Million most recently), and we absolutely must hold its administration accountable to ensure this money losing trend stops immediately.

Our Town Citizens for Accountability researched recent Peterborough losses of $2.3 Million that resulted from the town's Administration falling for the oldest trick in the financial scam book (wiring millions of dollars of taxpayer funds to accounts specified in rogue emails sent to the town's Administration).

We can not find a single town in the United States that has fallen for such a simple email scam for such a large amount of money.

“I wouldn’t accept – ever, ever, accept, ACH instructions by email, ever. That’s like a huge red flag,” according to Peterborough's information technology guru Tom Strickland from Sequoya Technologies (as reported by the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript).  "It’s much safer to require that information be sent by postal mail, which is much harder to forge, he said, and any change in ACH instructions should be verified, he said. “You don’t just accept that on faith, you call and verify to make sure that information is correct,” he said.

Peterborough's Administration, led by town Administrator Nicole Macstay, did not only fall for this age old scam once, and not twice, but three times - wiring millions of taxpayer's and residents dollars into the hands of some of the lamest fraudsters around!

Our Town Citizens for Accountability looked into the feasibility of holding town Selectmen Accountable (it is the town Selectmen that are entrusted to hire or fire the town Administrator), but Selectmen are voted in for terms and can not be removed quickly or easily.

But town Selectmen can, if petitioned, fire the town Administrator. 

We hope you will join this petition to fire the town official responsible for setting up and/or maintaining the town's accounting systems that should have prevented such simple and amateur fraud from happening not once, and not twice, but three times!!!
