He is a leader and mentor. He fosters personal development, creativity and gives pastoral care. He teaches and inspires young people to engage with their community. Jason is a volunteer, serving our community for free. Please let him stay!

JASON'S STORY: In early 2015, Jason Solari started the process of permanent residency after over a decade of faithful service to the community as an unpaid volunteer. His sponsoring organisation lodged a nomination which was successfully granted in May of that year. Jason’s application was being prepared and completed later that month, with the exception of one document which was being mailed from the US. As you can imagine a residency application takes a lot of time to gather documents. The document was in the mail and set to arrive by the first week in July.

However, everything changed on 1 July 2015. The Department of Immigration released new legislation without warning, changing the requirements of Jason's occupation.

He was more than qualified and completely eligible for a permanent residency visa before the new legislation. He already had a nomination approved, and every document in hand with the exception of one. The goal posts were moved overnight and his visa pathway had disappeared, leaving little to no options.

Immigration applications take months and months of planning. Visa pathways are years in the making, yet without warning, the future of the life, friendships and work he had built over 10 years was taken away from him.

Please help petition Immigration Minister Peter Dutton to let Jason Solari continue the important work he has been faithfully doing since 2004. As a volunteer in this country, he has brought only benefit to our communities as a public servant. Join this petition and make our voices heard!
