There are many reasons why people around the world seek asylum. These reasons range from safety, protection, war, poverty, education or opportunities.

With the supporting research and evidence, the average time spent for an asylum seeker is 15 months but the reality is for many years.

Statistics state in 2015 there were over 500 reported incidents in Manus, Naru and Christmas island. Most occurrences ranged from self-harm, abusive or aggressive behaviour, assault, sexual assault as well as incident and injury reports. There are many reports from Nauru proving how the guards sexually assault the children: “Reading the Nauru files, you learn that in September 2014, a girl had sewn her lips together. A guard saw her and began laughing at her. In July 2014 a child under the age of 10 undressed and invited a group of adults to insert their fingers into her vagina.” and as you can see the dangerous incidents that occur needs to be stopped, we need our voices to be heard, we need to protect the children and families better, it is our human right to protect humanity and if not now, then when?

This report is publicly available for anyone who can read, however, through these traumatic reports and experiences that the asylum seeker's go through, we are now taking action to close the offshore detention in Australia.

The issues that require action is the mistreatment and violation in offshore detention centres and our goal is to end offshore detention for people seeking asylum in Australia! Our aim is to add to the social movement and to escalate closing offshore centres due to the mistreatment and violation of Human Rights.
