Petition update

A new way to bring them #hometoBilo

Angela Fredericks
BILOELA, Australia

Sep 8, 2019 —

Friends, you might have heard that the Federal Court has adjourned the hearing into Tharunicaa’s asylum claim until Wednesday 18 September. That’s 11 more days to convince the PM to look into his heart and intervene.

Right now, can you pick up the phone and call your MP, since they are all in Canberra for sitting week?

Every day, politicians walk into party room meetings at Parliament House. We want the first question asked by every backbencher, every minister to be “What are we doing about the Bilo family?”

For that to happen, they need to know you won’t let them forget about Priya, Nades and their two little girls, who are sitting scared and alone on Christmas Island. They need to know you expect this government to bring them home to Bilo.

People within parliament have told us that MPs and Senators are feeling the pressure. We have compiled a list of politicians we believe will be particularly receptive to your call.

Right now, can you pick up the phone and call your local MP? Especially if you live in one of the electorates on the list below. These are Coalition MPs who might be able to do something for Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharunicaa. You call could be the one that changes everything.

Always hopeful,

Angela

Find your electorate here, or see a list of names and phone numbers below.

Here’s a script you can use:

  • Hello, my name is {YOUR NAME} and I live in {MPs NAME}’s electorate.
  • I am calling in support of Priya, Nades from Biloela and their Australian-born girls
  • I would like {MPs NAME} to please ask Mr Morrison in Canberra this week to allow Mr Coleman to use his powers under the Migration Act to allow this family to stay.
