Help us bring Biloela to Brisbane
Sep 2, 2018 —
Two things happened on the weekend.
Our petition received it’s 120,000th signature. And Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharunicaa spent their 180th day in detention.
We’ve held vigils in our local Lions Park. We’ve raised money for legal costs. We’ve hand delivered our petition to Mr Dutton’s office. We even went on Q&A and convinced a Liberal Senator to take up our cause.
But Mr Dutton isn’t listening to us. And last week, we found out who he has been listening to.
We learnt that Mr Dutton used his discretionary powers to stop the deportation of European au pairs, at the request of mates and political donors.
Enough is enough. This Saturday 8th September, we’re bringing Biloela to Brisbane. And we need your help. Please join us for this peaceful, family-friendly event: https://www.facebook.com/events/307267863428665/
Biloela is known for welcoming people from all around the world. I’d like to think that young working holiday-makers from France and Italy would be given the same warm welcome as Priya and Nades.
But it’s just plain wrong that Mr Dutton could intervene to release a French au pair in the “interests of Australia as a humane and generous society”, but leave this family locked up in detention for six months.
There’s so much uncertainty hanging over Mr Dutton’s position right now.
But with a Federal Court decision on Priya’s case due any day, Border Force could still try to force this family from Australia to danger. For Priya and Nades’ sake, we can’t afford to watch and wait.
That’s why we’re asking for your help to bring Biloela to Mr Dutton’s Brisbane electorate this Saturday: https://www.facebook.com/events/307267863428665/
Help us tell them that under Mr Dutton’s watch, Border Force took this Queensland-born toddler and baby and their loving Mum and Dad from our town, locked them up for six months and tried to force them from Australia to danger - not just one, but twice.
Help us make sure that the people who will decide his future remember these names when they vote: "Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharunicaa".
Thank you for everything,
Keep fighting for people power!
