Hello, my name is Jocelyn Linares. I’m from LA but raised in Nebraska. I still have a lot of family in Nebraska and things are going left real fast during this pandemic. The reopening of factories like Farmland and Cargill-which is where the United States (worldwide as well)-gets their chicken and meat which has been contaminated with coronavirus. Restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, etc.. get their meat from these places. Cargill and Farmland (and any factories like these) are still shipping nationwide and their workers have tested positive for coronavirus. One of them being my father who had a fever and was forced to go to work because he was threatened he would lose his job. Most of my family (aunts, uncles, parents) immigrated to America from Guatemala at a young age. This job has been their job for more than 25 years. All of them have citizenships now but, they are afraid of losing their job. My aunt who works at Farmland has gotten sick as well now. And I know families who's children have gotten sick because of the rapid spread of coronavirus in these factories. I feel like this isn’t getting enough coverage and I need your help to spread the news! These are factories that are contaminating our chicken and meat that we eat every day at our dinner table. Who knows how long it will be until these shipments finally hit their destination and spread it else where. Who knows how many people could potentially die? My father is better now but if he goes back to that factory he could get it again and then what? Will he recover? Will he die? That’s the stress that I’m in. My mother also works at this factory and has to go to work because she’s afraid of losing her job. These companies don’t care about their workers or their families. My little brother has asthma and lives with my mom who works Cargill every day. They are working next to people who have fevers (but haven’t tested positive for corona until then that’s when they can go home). Help me bring light to this issue! Human life is worth more!
