It is well past time to put an end to hateful symbols! My grandfather fought to keep Canada free of this kind of tyranny. The three flags are not a notion of ideology, they are a call to arms; an incitement to oppression - violence.

I'm signing because this is a conversation that needs to happen, in our local areas and elsewhere. Working to further our understanding of the realities/lives of others is how we grow as individuals and as a community, and you cannot experience that growth if you avoid the conversation altogether. As stated above, you cannot change what you cannot (or refuse to) see. Lets make Perth County a more welcoming place that is a safe space for all.

I'm a local and I know from myself and the people in my life that there's too much descrimination in our area and not enough understanding and expertise to address these issues. Some of the most intolerant comments I've heard have been from people, who were in fact, well intentioned. Like a woman who said there was no racism "because we even let them live here". We can do better but it will take a structural solution not people's best intentions.

I'm signing because letting this motion drop is a failure on the part of County council. Coun. Herlick's remarks come from a privileged place and are, at best, ignorant and at worst, racist. The inaction of each member of council is disappointing and I hope this petition takes a step towards holding them accountable.
