This petition is to put forward the wishes of so many Tamil Nadu Public Service (TNPSC) ASPIRANTS who are preparing determinedly for Group I & II services so as to tirelessly serve the government and the public.
Though our TNPSC have had successfully implemented various reforms, it stays imperative for the commission to bring in reforms in the maximum age limit eligibility as to show respects to the TRUE aspirants who had become the sufferers of not being able to attempt the group services exams during the period 2001 to 2006 as the recruitment to the government services were frozen, citing financial deficit reasons in the state.
(Although this moratorium was lifted in the year 2006 to enable the candidates affected by the freeze to appear for the exams, the government had relaxed the upper age limit, via a GO in July 2006, for taking the exams was 35 years for candidates under OC, and up to 40 years for candidates under BC, MBC, SC/ST. However, this age relaxation was withdrawn from July 16, 2011. As a result, the upper limit shall be 30 for candidates under OC, and 35 for candidates under BC, MBC, and SC/ST.)
Though it appears as fair chances were endowed (from 2007 to 2011) to those candidates who had attained maximum age limit (35 years) during 2001 to 2006, the years and the opportunities missed by them would not have been taken back at the same level of mind set and confidence as it had been the case if the exams were conducted and the opportunities were given appropriately during the time between 2001 and 2006. And also the number of attempts were pushed down low and become less than required and thus it subsequently minimized the chances of winning the exams conducted between 2001 and 2015. This has as well adversely impacted the Group I & II aspirants.
The serious request of the aspirants is not to increase the number of posts currently recruited by TNPSC but to increase the number of chances to enable them to stay relevant in the race of getting an opportunity to serve the fellow countryman with proud and boldness.
In this regard, they would like to bring to your notice that the maximum age limit to appearing in Group 1 examinations in Gujarat, Haryana, West Bengal, Assam and Tripura is 45 years and in Kerala it is 50 years. Their kind request to the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, Tamil Nadu to refer to these states policies and consider recommending age relaxation reforms in our state as well and as applicable.
They also would like to humbly request our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to kindly intervene into the matter and help us taking the exams by relaxing the upper age limit to at least 40 years for Group I & II service examinations.
Other Points to consider:
· Aspirants who were preparing during 2001 to 2006 might have taken different directions in their career by moving away from writing TNPSC exams due to the severe uncertainty prevailed in conducting TNPSC exams at that point in time.
· Though the exams were resumed from 2007, as there was no assurance given to the continuation of exams every year, the aspirants who had come back to their original path of attempting TNPSC exams should not have had the same level of confidence and mind set hence the recommencement of TNPSC exams from 2007 had not equalized the situations prevailed before and after 2007.
