I always read about how big companies control all your data, but I never bothered. All that changed 2 weeks back when I got locked out of my google account after I changed my password. My 2-step verification was also not accessible as I had given a google voice number which needs access to google. 

One of the scariest things is to get locked out of your digital world. My whole digital life in terms of emails, photos, and videos is under my Gmail account. Even devices like smart TV where I had logged in via Gmail were logged out. On top of that, so many 2-step verifications from other sites also used to come there. A very stressful experience

Google does not have any support in terms of addressing this issue, all they have is the online AI-based locked-out wizard. It was not working for me. There is no support number to address genuine cases like this. There is no manual system to verify authenticity. If I am not able to prove that I am the same person, my data is lost, all of it. That's insane, I am still me but for google algorithms, I was not.

Luckily the problem got solved as one of my old devices (which I regularly use) was not logged out. I hope no one else has to go through this nightmare.
 
This petition requests Google to give a human touch and human verification(even paid one is fine) for stressful situations like this.
