The students at Stanford do not believe that the Res X initiative to section Stanford into neighborhoods accurately reflects our culture or the wishes of the students. Neighborhoods will more intensely split the campus and make it harder to have a campus-wide community. It will also make moving housing, which at times is a necessity, harder. There very much are objectively better and worse neighborhoods based on distance from the main campus or community spaces. Forcing students to stay in the same region will only divide our campus more. We, the students, do not believe that we were involved enough in a decision that would, in our opinion, negatively affect our campus and our culture.
