Pepperdine University Online-Remote Option
Pepperdine University Online-Remote Option
Do you really know what Pepperdine's covid policy is? I doubt it!
Regardless of the fact that Covid 19 and the Delta variant are running rampant among both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, Pepperdine University has made in-person classes mandatory, putting faculty, staff, and students at risk of contracting and spreading the disease.
Based on Pepperdine's policy, if you are fully vaccinated, and come into contact or are exposed to someone with a confirmed Covid-19 case, you may continue with your normal routine, monitor your health, and be tested for COVID-19 three to five days after your exposure. Therefore, Pepperdine is encouraging students to attend classes with individuals who have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case putting students, faculty, and our loved ones at risk.
Additionally, some of Pepperdine's faculty have failed to clearly and factually inform their students of the school’s policies. For example, one syllabus states, "You are, however, allowed to come to class, even if you test positive if you have been vaccinated." In sum, Pepperdine is creating an atmosphere of insurmountable pressure and stress for hundreds of students who are concerned about completing their studies and remaining healthy. We shouldn’t have to choose between academics and our health.
Help be a voice of change as we urge Pepperdine University's administration to offer, at least temporarily, a virtual/remote option (potentially via Zoom or recorded lectures) for anyone in the community who is either unable to attend classes because they have fallen ill or for anyone who is afraid to risk exposure to this unpredictable disease.
