BREAKING: Boris Johnson is set to make yet another unprecedented move by blocking John Bercow’s peerage.

John Bercow is set to become the first Speaker to not receive a peerage, as a result of trying to defend our democracy by standing up against Boris Johnson and the Government when they decided to shutdown Parliament.

This is the first time ever in 230 years that a Prime Minister has made such a move.

Speaker Bercow has been a great servant to our democracy and has played a crucial part over the past few years to ensure that our elected parliamentarians have the right to question and scrutinise the Government over the Brexit negotiations.

Through my experience and engagement through the educational charities I have set up, John Bercow has supported 100s if not 1,000s of projects during his 10 years as speaker, inspiring hundreds of thousand of diverse young people living in our most deprived areas and advancing the causes of so many charitable organisations.
