Steven Tyler admitted in his 2011 memoir that he sexually exploited a young girl for years, starting when she was 16 years old. By allowing Steven Tyler to be around youth on American Idol, it sends the message to society that it is okay to sexually exploit young girls and get away with it.
Steven Tyler wrote in his book on pages 141-144, "one of the six girls in the Little Oral Annie Club ... She was sixteen, she knew how to nasty, and there wasn't a hair on it ... her parents fell in love with me, signed papers over for me to have custody, so I wouldn't get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me." The fact that he knew he could get arrested demonstrates that he knew what he was doing was wrong.
Julia Holcomb survived the sexual exploitation that she endured at the hands of Steven Tyler as an underage girl. Steven Tyler was her care giver after her Mother and Step-Father signed papers over to him. Julia is only most recently disclosing how the abuse took place. Julia expresses feelings of abandonment by her parents, when they allowed Steven Tyler to sign papers to be her guardian and sexually abuse her for years. Julia is openly speaking about what she endured and shares that felt she had to submit to Steven Tyler, since he was her guardian, and she shares this was confusing and traumatic for her. Julia reports that she eventually got pregnant by Steven Tyler and that he made her have an abortion, at five months into the pregnancy. Miraculously, Julia survived this trauma and is speaking out.
Join the collective voice to resonate across America that sexual exploitation is wrong, and that we should not be endorsing Steven Tyler on American idol. To this day he does not have control of his sexual impulses, as he most recently told a 15 year old girl that she was “hot, humid and happening” in front of her entire family on the show. It is WRONG that Steven Tyler sexually exploited a teen girl and now makes inappropriate comments to them to be aired on national television. This sends the message to young girls that this behavior is OKAY, when it is WRONG! Steven Tyler demonstrates anti-social tendencies, as he reported in his memoir his desire to become Julia’s caregiver was pre-mediated “so I wouldn't get arrested" he wrote. This demonstrates he knew his behavior was illegal and WRONG.
What if your next door neighbor disclosed that he sexually exploited a 16 year old girl to you? Why can this man write about abusing a young girl and profit from disclosing abusive behavior? What if it was a teacher or priest who wrote about abusing a child…would we as a society still continue to allow them to be around children?
Send the message to American Idol and FOX that it is careless for them to permit Steven Tyler to judge teens. They are showing no concern for the danger this poses to girls that may fall prey to him because he is a judge on this popular teen show.
