Singapore is one of the world’s leading countries with the highest vaccination rates, yet it still with-holds some of the strictest restrictions.

This is a petition for Singapore to maintain our sanity by at least resume social and or dining for 5-8 people and allow all outdoor activities without dialing back.

Singaporeans have been cooperative and supportive in government policy regarding  vaccination drive and restrictions on social activities in hopes to achieve a higher degree of freedom, long term.

However the promise of moving forward and treating Covid-19 as an endemic, has not transpired. We are experiencing another set back into a stricter circuit breaker due to a recent outbreak, yet majority of the population is vaccinated and therefore would only experience mild symptoms if the vaccination is as effective as we’ve been told.

This is a call to action for the government to allow a decent level of respect for human rights and freedom by allowing society to experience living life in a ‘new normal’ especially in social and or business gatherings and or dining.

Most worryingly, overall mental health of the population is suffering and resilience is beginning to waver.

As reported recently in the Straits Times, “All this has come at a cost to many. Mental health has declined since the Covid-19  pandemic began, with 76 per cent of the respondents here feeling sad or depressed, and 65 per cent feeling lonely.”

Ignoring mental health in these circumstances is counterproductive, as we all know that physical and mental health are intrinsically intertwined.

There is no escaping the reality of the effects mental health has on our immune systems. The deterioration of mental well-being of the population could prove more damaging to rising cases, prolonged health issues and even suicide rates.

Attention towards mental health is called for as well as designing policies to create a more consistent and sustainable livelihood to truly living with the virus is the only way forward.

Singapore is also risking its international hub in travel, investment, businesses and talents as the rest of the world opens up.

Please sign if you would like to see Singapore moving forward towards endemic after almost two years of isolation, fatigues and opportunity costs.
