Maria Gee, Pete Dennis and Anna Box, Wokingham started this petition to Chief Constable Thames Valley Police and

People in Wokingham are fed up with the increasing vandalism in the town. We miss having a local police station and an obvious police presence in the town, particularly at night.  Fewer police on the streets and the lack of a station makes criminals more confident that they will not be caught, resulting in more opportunistic crime.  The vandalism to the Wokingham town centre Christmas tree and the theft of several CCTV systems in the town are just two examples of criminals thinking they can act without being caught.

In the last 10 years, police numbers have been cut nationally by 20,000 and local police stations closed.  One of the casualties of police station closures is Wokingham town centre. If police numbers are going to be restored then the residents of Wokingham should be beneficiaries of this.

This petition to increase policing in Wokingham will be presented to the Right Honourable Priti Patel MP (Home Secretary), to Right Honourable John Redwood MP (Wokingham), to John Campbell (the chief constable of Thames Valley Police), Anthony Stansfield (Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner) and to Wokingham Borough Council. We want everyone to act together to help us lobby for what we want - more police on the streets of our town and our police station back!
