As tax paying citizens in Williams Lake, we are entitled to the services and resources that our tax monies provide within our city. With the continued lockdowns and passport restrictions, many have suffered the loss of actives that promote healthy lifestyle and wellbeing. These benefits will only increase health and vitality, a key factor in battling COVID. By choosing to implement these discriminations, you, our local rec center, are contributing to the decline in health and wellness that our community needs. The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Center is one of the only resources in Williams Lake and the surrounding areas that helps to combat the long winter months where many fall prey to mental disorders and other maladies now compounded by the pandemic. We want to change this by asking the city of Williams Lake to reconsider their position on excluding access to a demographic of people because of their health status. Should the city refuse, they should consider giving a tax rebate to those being denied this vital service as everyone’s  money is being used to fund it but not all are able to access it. Our kids, deserve the availability to use our public tax funded facilities.
