Unfortunately, even in our great agricultural community urban chickens are not allowed. This prevents self sustaining practices. Even during war time the government encouraged two chickens per person. Most people are opposed due to noise and such. We are suggesting property line , breed, and gender restrictions along with housing/ coop guidelines. While, some see chickens as pests, they actually are predators for mice, snakes, ticks, fleas, and other insects. With the legalization of city chickens, more children will be able to participate in FHA and 4H activities designed to teach how important agriculture is to our nation.
