For ages, during the British Raj, the royal families of the erstwhile princely state of Dhenkanal have exploited their subjects. Subjects revolted against them and such actions were mercilessly suppressed by the King's officers and the British India police force. Many people lost their lives, including the famous Sahid Baji Rout (the youngest martry of Indian freedom struggle; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baji_Rout ).

Women had no rights and were treated as properties of the royal family. So much so that many women tattooed their face to escape being raped! This continued till India got independence.

Unfortunately, the family of then Kings of Dhenkanal never ever bothered to apologize for these attrocities done by their forefathers. Members of the family has been elected multiple times to the parliament and assembly. Still, never have they thought of respecting the lost souls by apologizing.

The family of the erstehile royal family of Dhenkanal must publicly apologize for the inhuman treatment their forefathers have delivered and for their role in the death of Shahid Baji Raut.
