The Bay du Nord project is critical to the economic future of NL.  It will produce many direct and indirect jobs as well as all the associated economic spinoff.  It will also provide NL with the financial wherewithal to effectively deal with our provinces crippling debt as well as the ability to effectively transition into a new green economy.  While there is without doubt a global shift away from fossil fuels, the reality is that petroleum and petroleum products will still be in demand for many years to come.  NL has some of the lowest carbon producing oil on the planet and the proponents of the Bay du Nord project will be utilizing the most advanced technology in lessening the environmental impacts associated to this project.  We are therefore calling on our Federal Members of Parliament and our provincial government to demand that this project receives environmental approval by the Government of Canada.
