Brianna Lyons started this petition to People of Naperville and surrounding Suburbs

Sandra Bland was a 28 year old activist that died under suspicious circumstances in police custody 3 days after being arrested during a traffic stop for failing to change lanes. The Waller County Texas police officer involved in the traffic stop was fired from the force and initially indicted for perjury after claiming he feared for his safety after pulling over Sandra Bland's vehicle. While the charges were dropped, the officer agreed to never work in law enforcement again. In 2019 Sandra's cell phone footage of the traffic stop was finally released to the public where the officer was seen, taser in hand threatening to "light her up". Sandra Bland was a civil rights activist, avid critic of police brutality and participator of the Black Lives Matter Movement. She spread her message on racial injustice and police brutality through her videos Sandy Speaks and her words still ring true today. The Waller County Texas Police force failed Sandra Bland. We would like to honor Sandra's life by creating a mural in honor of her in her hometown of Naperville, Illinois.
